The Prosecutors’ Vetting Commission will hold public hearings with two senior officials from the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), as part of the ongoing integrity review process, in line with the criteria set by Law No. 252/2023.

  • On Tuesday, July 22, at 4:30 PM, Sergiu Russu, Deputy Prosecutor General, will appear before the Commission.
  • On Friday, July 25, at 4:00 PM, the Commission will hear from Victor Furtuna, Interim Chief Prosecutor of PCCOCS.

Both hearings will take place at the National Institute of Justice and are open to the public, including civil society representatives, the media, and anyone interested in attending.

The Commission reviewed the files of the two prosecutors, which include their asset and personal interest declarations from the past five years, information about close relatives in public positions, ethics and integrity questionnaires, and data gathered from public authorities, institutions, private entities, and information systems. This was done to assess whether the prosecutors meet the required financial and ethical integrity standards.

To clarify any uncertainties, the Commission sent each prosecutor four rounds of written questions and gave them the opportunity to submit additional evidence. The public hearings allow Commission members to ask direct questions and clarify unclear issues, while prosecutors have the chance to explain their position and add evidence to their evaluation file.
