On 10 December 2025, the Prosecutor Vetting Commission (Panel A) held hearings with Vasile Plevan, prosecutor with the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, and with the Interim Prosecutor General, Alexandru Machidon.

As part of the evaluation procedure established by Law No. 252/2023, the Commission collected and analyzed information about the prosecutors from multiple sources, including the National Integrity Authority, the State Tax Service, the Border Police, financial and banking institutions, open-source data, as well as other public authorities and private entities. Each prosecutor also responded to four rounds of written questions submitted by the Commission.

After reviewing the collected information, the Commission informed both subjects about several concerns to be addressed at the hearing, two issues per each subject of evaluation. Regarding Interim Prosecutor General Alexandru Machidon, Panel A decided to examine the first issue in closed hearing and rejected his request to review the second point in a closed hearing as well. Regarding prosecutor Vasile Plevan, the Panel has accepted the subject’s request to examine both aspects in a closed session.

“I consider this procedure important for strengthening the institution of integrity and reinforcing public trust in the Prosecutor’s Office,” Alexandru Machidon said at the end of the hearing.

The video recording of the public parts of the hearings will be available within three days on the Commission’s website: : https://vettingmd.org/en/commission-activity/hearings/. The evaluation reports for both prosecutors, which will include the Commission’s recommendation on the outcome of the external evaluation, will be issued within 30 days.
