On 15 December 2025, the Prosecutor Vetting Commission conducted public hearings with Gheorghe Borș, Interim Chief Prosecutor of the Policies and Project Management Unit of the General Prosecutor’s Office, and Gheorghe Iapără, Prosecutor with the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, as part of the external evaluation under Law 252/2023.

Prosecutor Gheorghe Borș was heard by Panel F, marking the first hearing of this panel following the appointment of new members this summer: Laura Ștefan, international member, and Ion Graur, national member. The Commission gathered information on the prosecutor and his close relatives to assess compliance with ethical and financial integrity criteria. His Pre-Vetting file was also reviewed in the context of his previous candidacy for a position on the Superior Council of Prosecutors. Based on the information collected, the Panel then sent him written clarification questions, which he answered with supporting documents.

Prosecutor Gheorghe Iapără was heard by Panel B, composed of Chairperson Virginia Moraru, national member Cornel Lebedinschi, and international member Irmantas Mikelionis. In addition to the information obtained from public and private institutions, the subject responded to two rounds of written questions, submitting the requested supporting documents.

At the conclusion of the hearings, Prosecutor Gheorghe Iapără wished patience to his colleagues involved in the evaluation process, while Prosecutor Gheorghe Borș expressed his appreciation for the fairness of the Commission members in carrying out their work.

The Commission will issue evaluation reports for both prosecutors within 30 days. Video recordings of the public hearings will be available on the Commission’s website within three days: https://vettingmd.org/en/commission-activity/hearings/.
