The Prosecutor Vetting Commission has completed the evaluation of Victor Cazacu from the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. Following the evaluation, the Commission found that the subject did not meet the financial integrity criterion set out in Law no. 252/2023 and recommended that the prosecutor not pass the external evaluation. The report was approved by the majority of the Commission members who participated in the evaluation, while two members submitted separate opinions.

Prosecutor Victor Cazacu was heard twice: first by Panel B, and then by the Commission, as Panel B did not achieve the required unanimity to approve the report. During the second round, the Commission requested additional clarifications regarding discrepancies between income and expenses, properties owned, and loans obtained.

The evaluation report was sent today to the subject of the evaluation, Victor Cazacu, and to the Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP), which will decide within 30 days whether to accept the Commission’s report. According to Law 252/2023, the report will be made public after the legal deadline for contesting the SCP decision has expired, or no later than 3 days after a final decision by the Supreme Court of Justice.
