On April 21–22, the Prosecutor Vetting Commission held hearings for three prosecutors from the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office: Stanislav Odajiu, Iulian Diaconu, and Vasile Plevan.

The first hearing concerned Stanislav Odajiu, seconded to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. Prior to the hearing, Panel A collected relevant information regarding the subject to assess compliance with the integrity criteria set out in Law No. 252/2023. To clarify certain issues identified, two rounds of written questions were submitted in advance, to which the subject responded within the deadline. During the hearing, two matters were examined, which were discussed at the subject’s request in closed session for the protection of privacy and moral considerations.

The second hearing involved Iulian Diaconu. Following the analysis of the collected materials and the prosecutor’s responses to three rounds of written questions, Panel A identified no doubts regarding compliance with the statutory integrity criteria that would require discussion in a hearing.

“This exercise was a maturity test for me within the Prosecutor’s Office. I recently completed 21 years of service. I was fully transparent with the Commission, answered all questions, and provided all the information at my disposal,” said prosecutor Iulian Diaconu.

The third hearing, held in closed session and under a resumed evaluation procedure, concerned prosecutor Vasile Plevan. On January 21, 2026, Panel A issued a report recommending failing the external evaluation due to non-compliance with the integrity criteria under Article 11 of Law No. 252/2023. The report was subsequently rejected by the Superior Council of Prosecutors, which ordered a resumed evaluation procedure on February 19, 2026.

Video recordings of the hearings (public parts) will be made available within three days on the Commission’s website: https://vettingmd.org/en/commission-activity/hearings/. Evaluation reports regarding the three prosecutors will be issued within 30 working days.
