During 15 – 18 October 2024, the Prosecutor Vetting Commission is to hear another seven candidates for the Superior Council of Prosecutors’ (SCP) Boards. The prosecutors Octavian Lazarev, Grigore Niculita, and Dumitru Triboi are seeking membership in the SCP’s Selection and Evaluation Board. The position of Discipline and Ethics Board’s member is sought by the prosecutors Ion Bunica, Alexandru Lozan, Eugenia Zubco, and Viorel Beiu.
The hearings will take place at the National Institute of Justice (1, S. Lazo Street), according to the following schedule:
Individuals, civil society, and media representatives may attend the hearings by notifying the Commission at the email address press@vettingmd.org, by Tuesday, 15 October, at 12:00. Notifications should specify the participant’s name, surname, and the represented organization, if applicable.
All participating members of the public must observe the same rules. Video recording, photography, or live broadcasting are not allowed. The video recordings in Romanian and English will be available on the Commission’s website and YouTube channel.
The evaluation of the SCP’s Boards Candidates is carried out in accordance with Law No. 26/2022 and Commission’s Rules of Procedure. A total of 32 candidates were forwarded by the SCP for the external evaluation. To date, the Commission has held 18 hearings and issued 15 decisions.
