On Monday, 16 June 2025, the Prosecutor Vetting Commission will hold public hearings for two prosecutors from the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office: Octavian Iachimovschi, acting Deputy Chief Prosecutor, and Alexandru Cernei, prosecutor.

As part of the evaluation process, the Commission did not identify concerns regarding the financial or ethical integrity of one of the prosecutors. For the other, the Commission intends to clarify a specific matter during the hearing. The prosecutor will have the opportunity to provide the necessary explanations.

The hearings will begin at 1:00 PM and will take place at the National Institute of Justice (1 Serghei Lazo Street). They are open to the public. Interested members of the public and media representatives may attend the hearings, subject to prior notification of the Commission Secretariat via email at press@vettingmd.org, no later than Monday, 16 June, at 10:00 AM. The notification should include the attendee’s full name and, if applicable, the organization they represent.

The evaluation is conducted in accordance with Law No. 252/2023 on the External Evaluation of Judges and Prosecutors, as well as the Commission’s Internal Rules of Procedure. The purpose of the evaluation is to assess whether the prosecutors under review meet the required standards of ethical and financial integrity. According to legal procedure, evaluation files are randomly assigned to one of the two panels of the Commission, each consisting of three members, both national and international.
