The Prosecutor Vetting Commission has completed the evaluation of the ethical and financial integrity of Interim Prosecutor General Alexandru MACHIDON. After a detailed review of the collected materials and the subject’s responses, the Commission concluded that he meets the statutory integrity criteria outlined in Article 11 of Law no. 252/2023 and unanimously voted that he successfully passes the external evaluation.

The evaluation report was submitted today to the subject and to the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP), which will decide on the Commission’s conclusions within 30 days.

In line with the procedure, the Commission will publish the report after the legal deadline for contesting the CSP decision has passed, or within three days following a final ruling by the Supreme Court of Justice.

Under Law no. 252/2023, the Prosecutor Vetting Commission is tasked with evaluating the ethical and financial integrity of certain categories of prosecutors, including the leadership of the Prosecutor General’s Office and prosecutors within specialized prosecutor offices. The integrity criteria cover ethical conduct, absence of incompatibilities and conflicts of interest, justification of assets, and compliance with tax obligations, in accordance with the legal framework.

The Commission carries out its work guided by the principles of independence, objectivity, and professionalism.
