The Prosecutor Vetting Commission announces a new round of hearings in March, which will include prosecutors from the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (including those previously delegated to this specialized office) as well as prosecutors from the General Prosecutor’s Office.

The first hearing is scheduled for 12 March 2026, at 14:00, when prosecutor Alexandru Cernei of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office will be heard. The hearing will take place as part of a re-evaluation procedure. On 15 July 2025, the Commission issued an evaluation report regarding Alexandru Cernei, proposing that he pass the evaluation. However, on 12 September 2025, the Superior Council of Prosecutors rejected the report and ordered that the evaluation procedure be resumed.

Also, on 12 of March, two former Anti-Corruption prosecutors will be heard:

  • 14:30 – Veaceslav Potînga (partially closed hearing), currently serving in the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor’s Office.
  • 16:30 – Eduard Varzar, currently serving in the General Prosecutor’s Office.

On 13 of March, starting at 9:00, Ghenadie Pîrlii, a prosecutor from the General Prosecutor’s Office, will be heard.

Additionally, on 13 of March, Alexandru Morcov, a prosecutor from the Strășeni Prosecutor’s Office, Călărași branch, has been invited to a hearing. He is being evaluated for his previous service as a prosecutor delegated to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. Based on the information collected and verified, the Evaluation Panel found no concern regarding his compliance with integrity criteria. In the hearing notice, the prosecutor was informed that participation in the hearing was optional. The prosecutor chose not to attend. In the absence of new information, the panel or the Commission will adopt an evaluation report proposing that the subject pass the evaluation.

The hearings will take place at the National Institute of Justice (1 Serghei Lazo Street, Chișinău), Training Room 005. The hearings will be public, except for part of the hearing of prosecutor Veaceslav Potînga. All hearings will be recorded, and the recordings will be published on the Commission’s website no later than three days after the hearing.

Subjects of evaluation have the right to review the materials in their evaluation file before the hearing. They may also submit additional written information or explanations and may be assisted by a lawyer or a trainee lawyer during the procedure.
