On Friday, the Prosecutor Vetting Commission held hearings for two prosecutors: Ina Frunza-Bargan, Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, and anticorruption prosecutor Vasile Disculțu.

In the pre-hearing stage, Evaluation Panels B and A collected relevant information about the subjects under evaluation and their related persons to verify compliance with the integrity criteria set out in Law No. 252/2023. Regarding the identified uncertainties, the panels issued four and, respectively, two rounds of written questions, to which the subjects responded within the set deadlines.

Ina Frunza-Bargan, Deputy Chief Prosecutor of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, noted that the external evaluation is an important but complex process and commended the Commission’s objectivity and the effort invested in the evaluation process.

“Personally, I understand that society’s expectations are high, but I trust that change in the justice system will happen and will be irreversible,” said prosecutor Vasile Disculțu.

The evaluation process has been completed for 26 subjects from the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, one of whom underwent re-evaluation. Video recordings of the hearings will be available within three working days on the Commission’s website: https://vettingmd.org/en/commission-activity/hearings/. The evaluation reports for the two prosecutors heard, including the Commission’s proposed conclusions on the outcome of the external evaluation, will be issued within 30 working days.
