On 1 December 2023, the Prosecutor Vetting Commission held its first meeting organized by the Ministry of Justice according to the Law 252/2023 in Chisinau. Prime Minister Dorin Recean, Minister of Justice Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, US Ambassador to Moldova Kent D. Logsdon, and development partners supporting justice reform in Moldova participated in the meeting.
Minister of Justice Veronica Mihailov-Moraru stressed that Justice reform is very important for our country and our future. The task you have before you is crucial, because it involves a great effort from many actors and a large number of subjects to be evaluated. The results of this evaluation will help to restore people’s confidence in the integrity of prosecutors and law enforcement institutions.
The Prosecutor Vetting Commission is established under Law 252/2023 with the stated purpose of undertaking a one-time evaluation of the ethical and financial integrity of certain categories of Moldova’s prosecutors.
